Text Feature #1

We have given numerous updates demonstrating various features of The Preacher’s Bible. However, we have received many requests for information concerning the text layout; over the next couple days, we will give updates concerning various aspects of the text.
First and foremost (aside from being KJV – Smith and Jones will never produce another version [in case anyone was wondering]), The Preacher’s Bible is based on the layout of the Old Scofield Reference Bible. Many people (including us) are so familiar with the Scofield Bible that they are used to seeing verses in a particular place on particular pages. We have kept that exact layout that C.I. Scofield put together – page for page it will match your Scofield. There are a couple minor exceptions to this – such as the fact that we included John 3:16 all on the same page rather than splitting the verse between two pages.
In addition to the pagination, we have retained the font almost exactly as the Scofield (as well as other old Oxford and Cambridge Bibles) had. In our opinion, the design of the Scofield text has two major flaws. One is that the text is very blurry – this is due to the fact that all Scofield Bibles are scans. To illustrate this, on the beginning pages of each Scofield Bible, the words “Facsimile No 1” or “Facsimile No 2” are found. This shows which size of Scofield Bible that specific Book was scanned from.
Scanned books will never have the sharp quality of modern books because of limitations of scanning/copying technology. To overcome this, The Preacher’s Bible has been digitally typeset. This means that we have completely redeveloped the Bible text from scratch in a new digital file. The Preacher’s Bible, while being identical to the Scofield text, will employ sharp, crisp lettering throughout its pages. The design for this Bible has been carefully laid out at great expense by the best Bible designer in the world.
The other major issue in the Scofield text is that the font is far too small. As we began developing The Preacher’s Bible, preachers and Scofield lovers from all over contacted us and asked us to design this Bible with a larger font size. The Preacher’s Bible is designed with a considerably larger font and more space between the lines (for those that like to write there) than a standard Scofield Bible.
Scofield’s study notes are not included in The Preacher’s Bible; additionally, the cross referencing system is not included. We will do an update specifically explaining that soon. We will also explain which Biblical King James text that we chose to use, and we will show a sample page of the text. All these things will be posted within the next couple days! Attached is a standard Scofield Bible page as well as an image of a couple of the same verses of The Preacher’s Bible for the sake of comparison.
