As we have mentioned over the last couple weeks, we found several Crimson, Mocha Brown, and Forest Green Bibles in our “seconds” cases. These Bibles have minor cosmetic issues mostly as a result of coming dislodged while in transit from Europe. Because of the sheer number of requests for these specific colors, we have decided to auction these with a starting bid of $300. This is the only fair way that we could come up with to let these go. We had people contact us to offer upwards of $500 to remove certain Bibles from the auction line-up, but we felt it would be unfair to everyone else that has asked for the same colors.
Here are the “rules” for the auctions.
- Each auction will last 24 hours except those auctions started on Saturdays. Saturday auctions will last until Monday morning so that they don’t end on the Lord’s Day (I’m not going to take care of stopping and starting an auction from my pew in church!).
- There will be a one hour span of time between the end of one auction and the beginning of the next auction. This time will allow us to close out the details on the finishing auction and time to get the next auction publicly available so that people can view it before it starts.
- Like many online auctions, this will have an auction extension in the last 60 seconds; so if there is a bid placed within the last 60 seconds, it will extend the auction an additional 30 seconds until bidding stops. This extension will not affect the starting time of the next auction.
- Bidders will be required to register a credit card prior to bidding – make sure you set this up beforehand so you don’t get caught unable to bid. Upon winning an auction, your credit card will be immediately charged.
- There will be no returns or refunds of any type for any reason on auctioned Bibles. We have taken photos of everything “wrong” with each Bible – look through the photos before bidding.
